What happens if you don't clean your gutters?

It is especially important to clean your gutters in Brisbane for two reasons. Brisbane's famous storms and it's abundant trees. When gutters and downpipes become blocked water that is caught by the roof is not able to flow out and this causes numerous problems. Water always follows the path of least resistance and if gutters are blocked water will find another way to make it's way down to the ground. Many times it comes back in through the soffits and ceilings of a house causing yellow stains to appear on interior ceilings. In more extreme cases it can flow from the ceiling down through the walls soaking the gyprock and plaster along the way causing considerable damage.

All of this moisture causes the gutters to rust. It begins by seeing little distortions along the bottom of the gutter, this means the rust has taken hold. These distortions give way to little pin holes that will leak when it rains and these in turn become larger and larger until the gutter is rusted through.

This is a big one. Yes, if you can't provide evidence that your gutters have been cleaned your home insurance may be void if damage due to water were to happen.
